Anonymous Call Rejection

Blocked numbers get a message that your line does not accept blocked calls

INSTRUCTIONS

To Activate:
• Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
• Press *77 and listen for a confirmation tone. Hang up.
• Incoming callers can unblock their number by dialing *82 before calling.

To Deactivate:
• Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
• Press *87, listen for the confirmation tone and hang up.

Call Block (per call)

Prevents the display of your name and number on a per-call basis

INSTRUCTIONS

Per Call Blocking prevents your number from being displayed when calling someone who has Caller ID on a per-call basis. Activate with *67 before you dial.

Call Block (per line)

Prevents the display of your name and number on all calls

INSTRUCTIONS

Line Blocking will block the transmission of your name/number to anyone who may have Caller ID on calls that you make.

To Cancel Line Blocking Before Calling:
• Press *82 and listen for the dial tone.
• Dial the number you wish to call. When you disconnect your call, Line Blocking will automatically be reactivated.

Deny 900 Calls

Prevents your line from dialing 900 numbers

INSTRUCTIONS

Customer service will add this restriction to your line at your request.

Call Forwarding

immediately transfers incoming calls to another number of your choice

INSTRUCTIONS

This feature means your phone can transfer incoming calls to another number of your choice. Call Forwarding is great for the businessperson who wants to catch after-hours business calls at home, or for anyone who does not want to miss an important call.

To Forward Your Calls
• Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
• Dial 72.
• Then press the # button. (With a rotary dial phone, skip this step and allow a 4-second pause.
• Again, listen for the dial tone.
• Now, dial the number you would like your calls forwarded to. (Speed calling codes may be used if you have this feature.)
• When someone answers at the forwarded number, Call Forwarding is in effect.

If there is no answer or the line is busy, hang up and repeat the previous steps. If you do this within two minutes, you will hear two beeps meaning your Call Forwarding feature is in effect.

Once you have activated Call Forwarding, the phone will make one short unanswerable ring each time a call is forwarded. However, you can still make outgoing calls from this phone.

If you wish to change the number your calls are being forwarded to, simply discontinue Call Forwarding using the steps below and then redirect your calls using the steps above.

To Discontinue Call Forwarding
• Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
• Dial 73.
• Press the # button. (With a rotary dial phone, skip this step and allow a 4-second pause.)
• Listen for two beeps. Call Forwarding is now discontinued.

Call Forward (busy)

When line is busy, transfers incoming calls to another number of your choice

INSTRUCTIONS

To activate, dial *90, and wait for stutter. Dial number to forward to, and wait for answer.
If no answer, this needs to be done twice.
Dial *91 to deactivate.

Call Forward (no answer)

If line is not answered within 4 rings, transfers call to number of your choice

INSTRUCTIONS

To activate, dial *92, and wait for stutter. Enter number of ring before forward, enter the number to forward to, press #, and wait for answer.
If no answer, needs to be done twice.
Dial *93 to deactivate.

Remote Call Forward

Turn call forwarding on or off from any location

INSTRUCTIONS

Used along with regular Call Forwarding, this features allows you to transfer incoming calls to another number even while you are away from your home or office.
To Forward your calls remotely:
• Dial 898-2372.
• Wait for tone.
• Enter your 7-digit telephone number followed by your PIN (last 4 digits of your telephone number).
• Wait for tone.
• Enter the activation code of *72.
• Wait for tone.
• Dial the number that you want calls forwarded to (if it is a local number, do not dial area code).
• You will hear two beeps; the feature is in effect.

To discontinue Call Forwarding remotely:
• Follow steps listed above and enter the feature deactivation code of *73.

Call Trace (per use)

Records last call received and sends the number to the phone company

INSTRUCTIONS

Call Trace will trace the last call received and send the information to the phone company. If you receive a threatening or obscene call, hang up, pick up the receiver and press *57. You will hear an announcement describing the Call Trace feature. Press 1 to proceed with the trace. Listen for a confirmation announcement and then hang up. The number you have traced will be recorded at our office. You then need to call the phone company at 898-2481 to notify them that you used Call Trace. Hood Canal Communications cannot release the information from your Call Trace to you, but if you do file a police report about the call, we will release the traced information to the police department. This service costs $1.50 per use.

Continuous Redial

Automatically redials a busy number until it becomes available

INSTRUCTIONS

Continuous Redial automatically redials a busy number until the line becomes available. When you hear a busy signal, press the switchhook once or the power button twice and listen for a special tone. Press *66, if the line is still busy, hang up. Your phone will check the number for you up to 30 minutes. Your phone will ring back when the line becomes free. Lift the receiver or press the power button to automatically place the call. To cancel Continuous Redial before it has rung back lift the receiver or press the power button and press *86. Listen for the confirmation tone or announcement. Hang up.

Displays phone number of incoming call

INSTRUCTIONS

Lets you know who’s calling before you pick up the phone by displaying the number of the person calling you on your display unit.

INSTRUCTIONS

Lets you know who’s calling before you pick up the phone by displaying the name and number of the person calling you on your display unit.

Call Waiting

Tone alerts you of incoming calls while you are on phone allowing you to transfer between calls

INSTRUCTIONS

If you have an incoming call while you’re already on the line, the Call Waiting feature will alert you. You may then put the first party on hold while you answer your second call. It will greatly reduce missed calls due to a busy phone!

How Your Call Waiting Feature Alerts You
• A beep tone tells you another call is waiting. Only you hear this tone.
• Another reminder tone will be heard 10 seconds later if the waiting call remains unanswered.
• The second caller hears the normal ringing tone only.

To Answer the Second Call
• Press the switchhook once or power button twice to place your first call on hold or press the “flash” button if your phone has one.
• You will automatically be connected with the second caller.

To Alternate Between Calls
• By pressing the switchhook/power button or the “flash” button you may alternate between calls.
• Each conversation is private and cannot be heard by the other caller.

To Terminate Either Call
• Simply hang up.
• Your telephone will then ring.
• When you answer it, you will be connected with the other caller.

To Cancel Call Waiting Before Calling
• Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
• Enter the deactivation code 70#, and listen for special dial tone.
• Now, dial the number you wish to call. When you disconnect your call, Call Waiting is automatically reactivated.

Caller ID – Call Waiting*

Caller name and number displays without interrupting your current call

INSTRUCTIONS

Lets you know who’s calling as you talk to another caller by displaying the name and number of the second person calling you on your display unit.

Distinctive Ringing

An additional number that has a double ring-tone while utilizing just one phone line

INSTRUCTIONS

Call 360.898.2481 to activate.

Last Call Return (or $0.75 per use)

Automatically redials last incoming call whether call was answered or not

INSTRUCTIONS

Last Call Return automatically redials the number of the last incoming call, whether the call was answered or not. This includes calls that were ignored on Call Waiting. If you missed the call, lift the receiver and listen for a normal dial tone and press *69. If you were already on the phone and ignored a Call Waiting tone, press and quickly release the switchhook or press the power button twice. Press *69 and your call will go through like a normal call. Charges apply.

Priority Call

Up to 15 numbers identified by a different ring or call waiting tone

INSTRUCTIONS

Priority Call stores up to 15 numbers which will be identified by a special ring or Call Waiting tone. To use Priority Call, pick up the receiver and listen for the dial tone. Press *61. Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many (if any) numbers are currently stored on your list.

Choose from the following options:
• Press 3 to turn on/off.
• Press 1 to review your list.
• Press # to add a number.
• Press * to delete a number.
• To add the last incoming caller to your list press #01#.

Selective Call Forwarding

Allows you to transfer up to 10 numbers to a phone number of your choice

INSTRUCTIONS

Selective Call Forwarding allows you to transfer specific calls to another phone number you choose. To use, pick up the receiver and listen for the dial tone. Press *63 and follow the automated instructions.

Choose from the following options:
• Press 3 to turn on/off.
• Press 1 to review your list.
• Press # to add a number.
• Press * to delete a number.
• To add the last incoming caller to your list press #01#.

The first time you turn on the service you’ll be asked to enter the number you’d like your special calls forwarded to.

Selective Call Rejection

Blocks unwanted calls from up to 10 specified numbers

INSTRUCTIONS

Selective Call Rejection allows you to block specific unwanted calls from any number you place in the rejection list. When your service is turned “on” any callers in this list will hear an announcement that you’re not accepting calls at this time. All other calls will ring through as usual. To use, lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone. Press *60 and follow the automated instructions.

Choose from the following options:
• Press 3 to turn on/off.
• Press 1 to review your list.
• Press # to add a number.
• Press * and follow the voice instructions to remove any or all of the numbers from your rejection list.
• To add the last incoming caller to your list press #01#.
• Press 0 to hear instructions again.

Speed Dialing (32 numbers)

Set a one or two digit code to frequently called numbers, up to 30 numbers

INSTRUCTIONS

• Press *75 and wait for the dial tone.
• Dial one of the thirty access code numbers (20-49).
• Then dial the number you wish to speed code and press #. (For long distance numbers, you must dial a 1 + area code.)
• Listen for confirmation tone.
• If you wish to change a number, repeat the above process.

Voice Mail

Stores messages from incoming calls that may be checked from any phone

INSTRUCTIONS

Communication is important to you. You take special care to be sure people can reach you as needed. Why risk missing calls? Voice mail from Hood Canal Communications makes certain that you always get your most important messages. After all — it’s your call.

The Benefits of Voice Mail
– If you are away or if your phone is in use, calls will be forwarded to your Voice Mailbox.
– If you have a message, the regular dial tone on your phone will be replaced by a “stutter” dial tone as notification.
– Each message is labeled with the time and date of the call.
– Password protection assures confidentiality of messages.
– Messages may be heard from any touchtone phone anywhere, anytime.

Accessing your Voice Mailbox for the first time from the phone subscribed to the service:
– Dial 898-MAIL or *98.
– When prompted, enter the temporary security code of 0000. You will then be prompted to enter a new PIN of your choice. Hood Canal Communications has no record of what your PIN is, so make sure you use a number that is easy for you to remember.

Accessing Your Voice Mailbox
From the phone subscribed to the service:
– Dial 898-MAIL or *98.
– When prompted, enter your PIN and then #.

From a different phone:
– Dial your home phone number.
– Interrupt the greeting by pressing *.
– When prompted, enter your PIN and then #.

Retrieve Messages
– Access your voice mailbox.
– You will hear the announcement: “You have x new messages and x saved messages.”
– Press 1 to listen to new messages.
– Press 2 to listen to saved messages.

Record Your Greeting
– Access your voice mailbox.
– Press 9 for the mailbox setup menu.
– Press 1 for greeting options.
– Press 2 to record your greeting.
– Record your greeting and then press #.

Change Your PIN
– Access your voice mailbox.
– Press 9 for the mailbox setup menu.
– Press 2 to change your password.
– Enter your new password/PIN and press #.
– When prompted to verify the password/PIN, enter it again and press #.

When retrieving messages, you can:
– Press 1: Play the message again.
– Press 2: Save the message and play the next.
– Press 3: Delete the message and play the next.
– Press 4: Save the message as new.
– Press 5: Reply to the message.*
– Press 6: Forward the message to another mailbox.*
– Press 7: Skip Backward in the message.
– Press 8: Pause the message.
– Press 9: Skip Forward in the message.

* Voice Mail package must be set to allow this capability.

3-Way Calling

Allows up to 3 calls to communicate

INSTRUCTIONS

This feature lets you turn an everyday two-way phone call into a three-way conversation. It’s easy!

To Add A Third Party
• First, to hold your existing call, press the switchhook once or the power button twice.
• Then dial the third number. (Speed Calling codes may be used if you also have this feature.)
• When the third party answers, you may talk privately before completing your three-way connection.
• With your third party on the line, press the switchhook/power button to add the holding party.
• Your three-way call is now in effect!

If for some reason the call to the third party is not completed, press the switchhook/power button twice to get back to your held party.

To Disconnect The Third Party
• Press the switchhook once or the power button twice. You will now have only the original party on the line.

To Disconnect Completely
• Simply hang up.
• If either of the other two parties hangs up, you can continue to talk to the one remaining.

Hunt Group Option

Rolls incoming calls to an available line when the called line is busy

INSTRUCTIONS

Call 360.898.2481 to activate.

Unlimited Last Call Return

Automatically redials the number of the last incoming call

Simply dial *69 on your phone in order to hear the phone number of the last call received on your line. • Press 3 to turn on/off.

• Press # top add a number to your list.
• Press * and follow the voice instructions to remove any or all the number stored in your list.
• To add the last incoming caller to your list press #01#
• Press 0 to hear instructions again.

Unified Messaging
