The State Patrol reports another fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 101 Sunday afternoon. This one was a collision between two motorcycles about five miles south of Quilcene near Buck Mountain Road about 3:25 PM. A northbound 2006 Suzuki was approaching a curve at milepost 300 and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane where it struck a southbound 2012 Harley Davidson. Both riders were ejected from their bikes. The rider of the Suzuki, Nicholas H. Montague, 26 of Lacey, died at the scene. The rider of the Harley, Rodney T. Sutherland, 45 of Port Hadlock, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. U.S. Highway 101 was blocked for more than seven hours. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
