Mason County’s unemployment rate decreased slightly in July. Washington State Employment Security says the county say a one-tenth of a percentage point drop last month to 6.7 percent. That is nearly two percent higher than July of 2018’s rate of 5.8 percent.

With the exception of Lewis County, adjacent counties saw the same one-tenth percent drop or remained the same during July. Grays Harbor (7.1%), Jefferson (6.3%) and Thurston counties all saw the one-tenth percent drop in unemployment last month while Kitsap (6.7%) and Pierce (5.6%) saw the unemployment rate hold steady. Lewis County showed a three-tenths of a percent drop in unemployment in July.
