A Lakebay woman died in a two-vehicle, head-on crash Friday on State Route 302 near the Mason/Pierce County Line.

The Washington State Patrol reports that a 1996 Lincoln Town Car was eastbound on SR-302 about 7:30 PM. At 194th Avenue KP North, the Town Car drove into oncoming traffic and struck a westbound 2010 Toyota 4-Runner head-on. The Lincoln came to rest blocking both lanes of travel while the Toyota went down an embankment.

The driver of the Town Car, identified as 48-year-old Melissa S. Carbone-Owens, died at the scene.
The driver of the 4-Runner, a 44-year-old Allyn woman, was transported to Tacoma General Hospital.
